About us: Yarrow Heights School is a mixed SEN day school, providing an integrated therapeutic model for pupils aged 7-16 whose needs cannot be met in mainstream provision. We work in partnership with local authorities and parents to provide the right social, sensory and educational framework to allow children to flourish who might otherwise be unable to attend school. Our unique model offers an Enhanced Curriculum across an Extended Day, and our in-house therapy team provide a personalised plan for each child.

About the role: Our Behaviour Support Team is responsible for supporting our pupils so that they feel more confident in managing their social, emotional and/or mental health needs, and therefore engage with and succeed in their learning. Our team are on call throughout the day to help our pupils to de-escalate when in crisis and encourage them to use known strategies to regulate themselves following any disengagement they may have had. Our Behaviour Support team also supports pupils with pastoral issues such as well-being, friendships, safeguarding and attendance.

About you: Our ideal candidate is likely to already have experience in this kind of setting, or you might have related experience of positive behaviour management working with vulnerable children and young people whose anxieties or sensory issue affect their ability to manage their behaviours.

We are looking for someone who is a team-player, has a friendly, calm disposition, and bags of energy. They will have a creative and proactive approach to problem-solving underpinned by resilience and excellent communication skills. You will need experience in accurate report writing and be able to liaise with parents, staff and most importantly our pupils.

You will work with the wider school to ensure that we meet our aims of ensuring that all children make great progress academically as well as with their social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties.

Job Type: Full-time – Term time only

Salary: From £25,000.00 per year
